Widely used in the concrete repair industry, 580 or MargelTM (trade name) is a multi-part corrosion inhibitor providing a quick release vapour inhibitor and other slower release compounds. These provide a broad spectrum of protection, both short and long-term for steel rebar's, with a life of up to 10-15 years depending on installation conditions. In the construction industry this has been used successfully on a large number of renovation projects, such as bridge renovation, office blocks, multi-storey car parks, listed buildings and residential (PRC) housing.
Typically this is installed from the exterior of a building by drilling small holes, inserting the capsules and sealing. Very importantly, this negates the need for the existing surface to be removed, saving time, money and avoiding many of the important environmental problems associated with other systems. The installed corrosion inhibitor once installed will migrate from the capsule through the concrete structure as a vapour and chemically bond to the embedded steel providing long-term and highly effective anti-corrosion benefits. It is important to note that this will not reverse corrosion in steel, but will stop it from further corrosion.

VPI 600- MargelTM (Patented Product)
A Gel version of the above 580 product, which is supplied in cartridges for inserting into smaller diameter holes or difficult to access areas. The components work in exactly the same way as the VPI580, except they are applied in a fluid form and once applied will form a solid over a period of 12 hours. VPI600 is supplied in both 300ml and 600ml cartridge sizes.
